[Family Plots 2/5]Family Reunion
|| It truly did not take Aeron long before he found the Dagger Manor. It was a wicked looking place, and looking at it made her handsome face twist into a sneer. How in the worlds could Damien have possibly gotten his hands on this place? If only he had died and Lucedio lived. The world would never have taken this course. But it has, and Aeron will take it back. Taking a moment to compose himself, he grins charmingly and walks his way up to the home. Regardless of his previous thoughts, he /was/ excited to meet his lost brother. If you could call him lost. Two raps with his knuckles announced the man, then he steps back and clasps his hands behind his back; waiting. ||
|| For Damien Thorne the day had mostly been boring. Up until a little over a half hour ago, he'd spent most of the day training, or prowling for victims with no result. He'd returned an hour ago, only for a knock on his door to occur not fifteen minutes after. Chava, who'd been the one knocking, seemed calm, though he could tell that she was upset or angry at something. He was just about to ask what happened, not even thirty minutes later, when another knock occurred. Normally he'd assume it was Chava, but she was already here. It wouldn't be the person who dropped off his sister months ago, as it was far too late for that. A snarl escapes his lips, and he stands up to head towards the door. Opening the door slightly, wide enough to see, but not to enter, he glances at the man knocking. "Who are you, and what the !#@k do you want?"
|| Already annoyed and frankly pissed off, after meeting little miss princess Aveline, Chava had headed straight to the one place that was best at calming her down. Thankfully Damien had been there, and with a frustrated groan she immediately dropped against him, trying to avoid any thoughts of small children and ex lovers. Which now was easier. It appeared she might have more than one problem, however, when an all too rare knock fell upon the door to the Dagger Manor, and Damien seemed none too happy about it. A frown curling her lips, she stands up after him, behind his shoulder as the door opens. The man that stood there was one she had never seen before, and yet at the same time there was something almost very distantly... familiar about him, though she couldn't place what. Her eyes scan him up and down, as if looking or possible threats, wand in hand behind her back.
AeronThorne was expecting the tiny outburst from his brother. It couldn't be helped. Damien wouldn't even know of Aeron, seeing as the youth was born a year or so after the older was kicked out. Neither should know the other, yet he does, and he dips his head in a formal greeting. Then a smile paints his face, lighting it up. "Damien Thorne, I presume?" He questions, tilting his head. Opening his mouth to continue, a head popping up behind his brother stopped him. It was a women, quite obviously. And she was quite pretty, in his eyes. No longer addressing Damien, Aeron swings an arm out in front of him, hand cupping his chest as he bows. "Aeron Thorne, quite pleased to meet a beauty such as thee." He stands back up, and glances up, his ocean coloured gaze shifting between his brother and company. Lucedio did not mention a woman, but it was truly a pleasing surprise. ||
|| Narrowed eyes stared at the man in front of him, before sneering, "If you know my name, you should know that it isn't a good idea to knock on my door." He stares at the man, before--
<RAV> Stay Dead DamienThorne --instantly snapping his dagger out, placing it at the younger man's neck, "You claiming the Thorne name already makes me want to kill you." Without a seconds hesitation, he aimed a punch at the man's face. "And so does you talking to my girlfriend that way." He reaches out grabbing at the man by the neck, aiming to pull him inside the building. If he deemed it unsafe, he could always use one of the code phrases to lock the man in one of the rooms. "State your business before I decide to kill you."
Chava hadn't expected this man to know Damien's name, and certainly didn't expect the man to claim the Thorne name. She was so surprised by this she hadn't even realised his obviously very charming attitude towards her until Damien brought it up. Stepping backwards, she moves to pull the door shut after Damien made to bring him in. She doesn't even bother hiding her wand at this point, moving towards the strange man at this point. A small sneer paints across her face. "Thorne...?" she mutters, writing the idea off entirely. But... but the more she looked at the man's face, the more she realised he looked vaguely familiar... "Polyjuice potion?" she whispers, shuddering slightly at the thought of the damn thing.
|| What he wasn't expecting was to be attacked, in any situation. The blade was a given, intimidation. He could almost snort, but then a hand is flying towards his face and he just /barely/ moved to the side, the faint wind from the punch brushing his cheek. Aeron arches a brow. Because he dodged the punch, he couldn't move in time before he was grabbed and pushed into the Manor. At least that was one step down. The door shut in front of him, the woman moved towards him. "My only business is that I wished to occupy the Manor. But I was told it was occupied. By you. So I decided to visit." At the woman's question, Aeron laughs, the tone pleasing to hear. "I have never seen my brothers before. How could I possibly duplicate any similarities in appearance?" It was just completely unlikely. "I /am/ a Thorne though. The youngest brother." ||
| Damien didn't care if the man wished to occupy the manor, he would never give it up. He didn't care if the man decided to visit. What he did care about was the fact that the man had essentially confirmed that he was indeed a Thorne. "My brother?" He snarled. He only knew of Lucedio, but he supposed it wasn't that far outstretched to say that his parents had a son after abandoning him on the streets. It was this memory that infuriated Damien as he looked on at the man, Aeron as he called himself. "Do you hold any affiliation with my parents?" he didn't care about the fact that essentially called them his parents, despite his hatred for them. "DO YOU?!" He stepped forward, slicing his dagger, aiming for the man's chest, without hesitation, "Because if you do, I will kill you without hesitation." He pulled out his wand aiming it at the man, "Because /your/ parents abandoned me on the streets at four." He snarled again, his eyes locking on the man's, "All because they assumed I was a squib." he flicked his wand, casting a knockback jinx on the man, before screaming out, "BUT CLEARLY I'M NOT A SQUIB, AM I?!"
Chava had known next to nothing about Damien's childhood and upbringing, but she had a feeling she'd soon be learning a lot. Was it possible, for this man to be his brother? He certainly looked like him, so it must be true. She had assumed it was only Lucedio. Damien was getting angry, and her eyes widen at his words. "Abandoned at four?!" she hisses in response, fingers gripping tightly at her wand. When Damien pulls out his wand, she holds a hand out as if to stop him. "Damien," she warns him, her voice softer. Though she was unsure she would help him much. But still, she wasn't going to let him knock himself out because he felt the need to prove himself with magic. She places a gentle hand on Damien's arm, frowning at him, before turning her gaze back to the man, now more puzzled than angry. "Answer," she commands him, hoping he wouldn't get Damien even angrier.
AeronThorne thought Damien started to accept the fact that, indeed, they were brothers, only a few years seperated. However, at the question, he cocked his head, confused. Any affiliation with their parents? Considering he grew up with them, one woulda expected him to say yes. But it was quite the opposite. "Wow!" He yelps, jumping back from the knife enough that it missed piercing his skin, but it did slice through the material of his clock and proper attire beneath it. He scowls only faintly. He stares at the man. Perhaps Lucedio was right, there was no reasoning with Damien. It was impossible. "I-" Aeron began, only to be knocked back, flinging through the air until he hit something - piece of furniture or a wall - and fell to the floor. He grunts, slowly getting to his feet. "As you /kindly/ pointed out, /our/ parents are not the kindest. Also the reason why I am here." His gaze flicks to the woman. "I answered, but I can't help but think... no." He pauses, his own wand in his delicate fingers, just in case he would be attacked again. It had been said that some wands can choose a squib, even if the squib cannot perform powerful magic. Being chosen will activate the magical genes, but they still wouldn't be a complete witch or wizard. Aeron couldn't help but to believe this was the case for Damien. "I did not leave our parents on a good note. But in leaving I did get to reunite with both my brothers, so I can't say I'm upset." ||
|| Despite the man's words to the contrary, Damien continued on his rant. He was %$!#ed off enough that the man holding no real afilliation towards their parents, didn't calm him down enough "But no, no matter what happened, /your/ parents believed I was squib." He cast another spell this time a stronger spell, causing a jet of fire to stream out of his wand. He let it cast for a good few seconds, before silently casting aguamenti at the flames so it wouldn't burn down the house. "Every single bit of accidental magic I did was accredited towards Lucedio." It looked as if he was finally about to calm down, but the man mentioned meeting both brothers but the man was sent into a different type of rage. "And what, did you align yourself with him?" he shouted, moving his wand back into his pocket. No, for this, Damien wanted to get up close and personal "The man who seeks nothing more than to kill me and those I care about? And for what? Because /your/ parents decided to essentially try and kill me off by transferring his mind to mine?" he laughed sardonically, before shaking his head, "Though It didn't quite work out that way did it? No, Lucedio was shunted off to the back of my mind. Shows who has a more powerful mind, doesn't it? And because they didn't have their dear, precious Lucedio, they decided to shunt their other son to the streets, where I could have died."
|| Their son hadn't left on the best of terms, but they were determined to get him back. With Lucedio dead, and Damien essentially disowned, they required their youngest son to stay--
<RAV> Stay Dead DamienThorne --with them to learn about the family and how to uphold it. Kenneth and Alona Thorne had argued for a good portion of the day about what to do. Alona had a feeling what Aeron was trying to do, but Kenneth kept refusing and saying, "He'll come crawling back, don't you worry." In the end, Alona had won out, and they now traversed Knockturn Alley, searching for their old house. They were both dressed up in fine, important seeming robes, as they stalked up the steps to the manor. Alona glanced over to her husband, but the man only shook his head. "You wanted to retrieve Aeron, you talk to the disgrace." With that, Alona narrowed her eyes at Kenneth, before knocking on the door. No matter what happened or who answered, they would be entering the house, making their presence known.
|| Focused on the man, Damien hadn't seemed to be listening to her at all. But frankly, she liked to use being forgotten to her advantage, and stepped back a little to survey the scene before her. Damien was getting mad, and anxious to prove himself, seemingly forgetting about the costs of using too much magic. But she didn't care how upset he got at her, if she's could stop him from using too much magic she would do it. And with that, the second the fire went out, Chava raises her own wand. "Expelliarmus," she mutters, making it powerful enough to snatch up not only Damien's wand, but the man, Aeron's, as well, reaching to take the three wands in her hand. "The only one I'll allow to use magic this round, is myself," she states firmly, tucking them away, before gripping Damien's arm again. "Love, please. Be careful," she pleads, moving to kiss his cheek, before the bell rang. Again. Well, today was certainly an exciting day, and if Chava learned anything from it, it was not to trust the people behind doorbells anymore. But still, when Damien asked her, Chava answered, a scowl already on her face. She only opened the door a crack, her head peeking out to see the man and woman whom she did not know, still snarling. "What the !#@k is up /now/? WHAT?"
Aeron stayed silent as Damien ranted, although his own face stayed nearly passive. His brother had a right to be angry, especially since he confirmed what he gathered from his parent's threats to him when he would not do something they wished. When he hears about Lucedio, he could believe it, but he just couldn't see it. Stil, Aeron didn't trust the oldest brother, but imagining the man wanted to kill Damien and, quite possibly, this woman. Did Damien say girlfriend, earlier? What a shame, Aeron found her quite attractive, especially when she surprisingly disarmed him. He grins faintly. "That's not the only wand I can cast magic with." He couldn't help himself. The bell rang and all their attention turned. Who else could it be? Surely it wasn't Lucedio, since he sounded as if the wards held him back. Why didn't they hold Aeron back? "Mother!" He exclaims in shock. "Father!" They moved forth from the doorway, pushing the woman out of the way, causing the youth to flit forward, as if to offer a steady hand. Then he straightens and eyes his parents. The form of a welly disciplined son. "What has brought you two to the establishment?" Did they come for him? ||
| Damien aimed a punch at his 'brother's' face as soon has he said that line about magic. "She's mine, remember that." He shook his head at Chava, but resigns to not having his wand. "I couldn't be any more careful." He turns towards the door at the younger man's words and expression, before turning around to see his two parents standing there. "Who the %$!k said you could come in?!" he snarled at the two. "Last I heard of you, after you /abandoned/ me, you gave me some gold and the keys to this house as a bribe to stay away from you." he took a step closer, before nearly yelling, "And now you're coming here?"
| Both Alona and Kenneth looked around the house in disgust at the decor. Kenneth turned his disgusted look over towards Damien, before saying, "That's right. I gave it to you, and I can take it back. What have you done with our ancestral home?" While Kenneth was questioning Damien, Alona moved towards Aeron, "Have you lost your mind? Come back home." She glanced over towards Chava, before asking Aeron, "Is that your girlfriend? Bring her back to the manor with us." She narrowed her eyes at Damien slightly. The woman couldn't be /his/ girlfriend or wife after all. Who in their right mind would date a squib?
Chava was right in that she would learn a lot about Damien's family history in one night. She had completely ignored Aeron's words and gestures to her, a scowl on her face, even as she was pushed to the side. Aeron and Damien's words shed a little light on the situation, but it made her none too happy. So /these/ were the people that had left Damien out on the streets to die as a toddler. These were the people that started it all. Without them, would Lucedio have any reason to hate Damien at all? Everything could be different. Chava shoves Aeron out of her way, revolted at the mother's words as she takes a step towards Damien, holding a single hand out to him as if to calm him. But it was hypocritical, as Chava herself was the exact opposite of calm. Before she even really said a word her wand was raised in the direction of the supposed parents, flicking it twice and aiming to send them both flying through the air and across the room to the other wall. "Try again, ma'am," she says with false sweetness. "Neither of you get to stay," she hisses, taking more steps to hover over them.
Aeron continues to rub his jaw from Damien's punch, loosening his disciplined stance. It was aching him. Although he had been hit before, he was always prepared. Surely he would swell. Take it back? Should he ask them to take it away from his insolate brother and disrespectful girlfriend? Yes, he should. But in private. Shaking his head in answer to having not lost his mind, Aeron snarls faintly as he was pushed aside. Even his parents thought this woman was his girlfriend. Damien deserved nothing, not a house, not the Thorne name, not even someone by his side. If he was cast out alone, he should stay that way! Quickly, instinctively, the youth whips his hands out and stops his parents from crashing into the wall, just briefly. A violent glare is turned towards the woman before quickly shifting to his care free glance, stepping in front and inbetween parents and the woman. "Do not test them." He hisses lightly, his eyes almost pleading. "You should not have come here." Aeron now addresses his parents, gritting his teeth subtly. His whole idea and plan was ruined. He'd have to start over. ||
|| This had gone on quite enough. First Aeron shows up for whatever reason, then his own parents practically force their way in. Damien was angry, but at the same time, he was calmer than he was earlier. "Whatever rights you had to this house, you gave away to me." He swipes his hand to the side, wandlessly casting a knockback jinx at the two, despite Chava already throwing them at the wall. "You told me to stay away, and to not claim what was not mine. You are the ones that came here. I've held up my end, now you hold up yours, and leave." He takes a couple steps towards Chava, knowing that she had more magic and could deal with that sort of thing better, "Go find Lucedio, why don't you?"
|| Both Alona and Kenneth were grateful to their youngest son for keeping them from hitting the wall, though it did nothing of the sort to defend against Damien's wandless magic. Alona was already piecing things together, but Kenneth glared at Aeron, "Do not presume to tell me what to do. Know your place, Aeron. You won't be head until I'm dead, and I plan on living a long time" Alona looked at Damien bewildered, "You aren't a squib?" Shock was etched into her voice as she spoke again, "Come home with us, Damien. Take your place as heir." "Absolutely not, Alona. He killed Lucedio." Both of them were not expecting Damien's last line however, "Preposterous, He's dead. /You/ killed him."
Chava takes Damien's hand in hers, her wand in her other hand. She leans close to him, only to whispers warningly, "Stop using magic," only loud enough for him to hear. If he kept going like this Chava would pull out the body bind much later, one of her favourite tricks. Squeezing his hand lightly, she flicks her wand once more, and again and again, hoping to hit them with a few at least. Cutting curses, jinxes, other hexes and the like. She was too upset to let this go, completely ignoring Aeron between them. "Its too fucking late to change your mind now, bitch," she hisses to the woman, before she falters slightly at the father's words, stopping her stream of spells. She hadn't realised they thought Lucedio dead. Chava still held the scars from when Lucedio last tortured her, only about two weeks ago. She only wished Lucedio was dead. "HE SAID TO FUCKING LEAVE, SO DO IT!" she yells, waving her wand to try and flick Aeron out of the way of her path.
AeronThorne stares at his brother in only slightly disbelief at the wandless magic. He really wasn't a squib? But how was that possible? He was too shocked, too busy processing this information he didn't protect his parents from being hit with the jinx further. He inwardly curses at himself. Then silences at his father's words. He'll kill his father if he had to, to achieve the goals he had planned. "No," Aeron whispers, looking at his parents strictly, back facing Chava and Damien. "I saw him not too long ago. He isn't dead." The youth was surprised when he found out too. Lucedio, their rightful son, was alive. And because of a friend? Although he was smart, it was difficult to wrap his mind around it. "Fa-" He began, only to be stopped by a sharp pain against his back, yelling and spinning around. He threw up a wide shield, although one spell passed through, towards the married couple. His voice was gutteral. "Stop making things worse! Stay out of it, woman! This is not your business!" Aeron snapped, flicking his wrist, a makeshift stick slipping from his sleeve. Channeling his magic through it, Aeron casts three of his own spells. Knockback, Experllerimius, and Knockback again. He wanted his wand back. Or else he'd come back for it. Hardly wincing from his bleeding wound, the youth prowls over to his parents, pushing them towards the door. "Lucedio told me to let you know that he's been searching on your ability. And it sounds to me he's nearly figured it out." That last bit may be a bluff, but his face was stoic, $!#@ed off, but also seemingly truthful. Chava's attempt affected him naught, as he does his best to guide his parents back towards the door. This night did not go as he so planned. Not nearly close. Aeron would have to rethink, replan. But for now... "I'll help you find Lucedio." He whispers to Kenneth and Alona, fibbing. "Leave Damien alone. I'll come back home." With that, he winces. He wished he didn't have to go back, and hoped he could find a good excuse to leave next time and not just fleeing after a disagreement. Even if he did break a few things. ||
| Damien had an idea. One that didn't cost him any energy for casting magic. He thrusts his hands up, before moving as if pulling an invisible wall down. Without speaking he thought out the phrase that attributed to this part of the ward, instantly causing a thick magical shield to appear essentailly trapping the Thornes in the foyer, with himself and Chava, comfortably on the other side. he placed a hand on Chava's shoulder. "Let me deal with this." He stepped forward, admiring the near invisible shield. It had been incredibly difficult to find this particular ward, given how ancient it was. "I'm going to say this once, Aeron. You talk to Chava in that way again, and I will kill you. I don't make idle threats, understand?" He averted his gaze towards his parents before scoffing, "You abandoned me. Go find Lucedio. I'm sure he'll be more receptive. But be warned, if you do choose that route, you will be in the crossfire of our war. Now leave."
|| Kenneth grabbed Aeron's arm sternly. "We shall discuss this at home." Alona sputtered at Damien's refusal at returning with them. Who would turn down the power she offered. She had half a mind to go over there, and slap Damien for being an idiot, when the wards came down. Of course they knew what the wards were, but they weren't the ones intending to reclaim the home so it wouldn't matter to them. Kenneth scoffed at Aeron, "That disgrace? We can trace our lineage and our powers back to a prominent family from way back, The Bergotts, and you presume that the disgrace received the family's gift? Preposterous."
Chava had already raised her wand to attack Aeron, when Damien stopped her. The wards come up, and she pauses at his voice, only then backing down. She didn't want to, she wanted to kill them all, but she still pauses and takes a step back. All the same, her wand was at the ready. She didn't trust any of them around Damien. She figured they would run off to find Lucedio. Yet still they lingered, and who's side was Aeron even really on? He played a very strange game, and Chava had to admit she was rather curious of his true intentions. She scowls at the parents, clenching her fists together. She supposed she was lucky the wards were up between them now, stopping Aeron's spells and any others that might come. She almost wanted them to try. "Don't you dare talk about Damien that way," she snarls, taking another step forward. Disgrace, they called him a disgrace, unworthy, a squib. All lies, and she wanted desperately to make them regret it.
|| Being trapped by the shield, and his father gripping his arm tightly, Aeron takes a tiny moment to himself. He breathes in, holds. As he holds his breathe, he steadies himself, wrapping his released emotions into a ball of yarn and tucking it away. Then he brought back the side of him aligned with his own ability, without actually using it. Now the youth breathes out. He rips his arm from his father's grip. "My apologies, father. But he is still a /Thorne/. Clearly he isn't a squib like you led us all to believe. Surely he has the family gift." Aeron hangs his head, clasping his hands behind his back. Then he looks up again, trying to catch the eyes of his brother, and his girlfriend - oh was that unfortunate. "Apologies, brother. to have brought upon you these troubles. We shall make our leave." He does not wait for permission, he spins around, wincing only slightly from his wound, and grabs his parent's wrists. The youth pulls them back, despite any future or current reprimands, opens the front door and pushes them out. He stops, on breifly, and turns to look at the only other people in the manor. "I am going to make sure they get home. And whatever else I must before I return." He eyes Chava, and has to bite back an inappropriate wand comment. Instead he says, "You have something that belongs to me, and I /will/ be back to collect it." One last look at Damien that was an attempt to portray what he wanted to say, Aeron leaves, snapping his arms, connected to Kenneth and Alona Throne's own limbs, before they disappear in a cloud of dust, leaving the Dagger Manor deserted once more, save for Chava Roku and Damien Thorne. ||
|| A slight sigh escaped his lips as this, once boring, now stressful day ended, and yet Damien had much to think about. Family gift? Ancient lineage tracing back to a family he didn't recognize? This day just got weirder. He'd hoped he'd never have to deal with his parents again, but with his luck, that wouldn't be the case. "You may come back to retrieve your wand," he called out to Aeron's retreating form, "But /they/ aren't welcome back." He walks over towards the living room, swiping his hand downwards, lowering the shield he had brought up. Collapsing in his throne, he turned towards Chava, saying only, "Hell of a day."
Chava hardly breathed until the shield was down, the door closed behind Aeron and his parents. She was frazzled and plenty confused, though at the same time there was still more than enough anger in her to last her for weeks. What with Aveline, and now this... She sighs, pulling Aeron's wand out and tossing it to the table. "I've half a mind to break the wand if I wasn't so curious as to what he has to offer, what game he's playing at." Shaking her head, she follows Damien, sitting herself in his lap and having him look at her. "Listen. Everything said about you is bullshit. You're more powerful than they know and you're worth a million of them." She pauses, tilting her head. "Can I kill them?" she says offhandedly, though she was serious in her want to. She presses a kiss to his forehead. "I understand you. I had enough going on back at my house," she growls, shaking her head again, before she rests it on his shoulder and closes her eyes, as if she were to fall asleep.
| Damien chuckles darkly at her comment at breaking Aeron's wand, "I would be too, to be honest." he mumbles slightly before shaking his head at her. "Trust me, I don't care what they say. As long as they stay away from me, I'm good." He chuckles at her offhand comment before giving a slight shrug, "If they don't stay away, I don't see why not. Though I would love to see them dead, so I can laugh at their graves, before I destroy the markers." He raises a brow at her, wondering slightly about what she had been dealing with earlier. "Really? What happened?" To be honest, during the whole conflict, he had completely forgotten that she was upset at something.
> <SLY> Stay Alive Chava groans at his questioning, keeping her head on his shoulder but slapping a hand to her face, pinching the bridge of her nose. She hadn't yet told Damien about this part of her life- he really only knew about Blake. This seemed a rather strange thing to forget to mention, but then again she had tried so hard to block it out. "Well," she mumbles, her voice low. "Apparently my memory is worse than I thought, considering I forgot I was pregnant years ago," she rubs her temples. That really did sound terrible. "I have a daughter. Can you imagine?" She scoffs, not wanting to think about it, tugging on a strand of his hair. Once again, she closes her eyes as if in sleep. She was getting tired.
|| While Damien certainly wanted to press the conversation onward, he could see that Chava was clearly tired. "I suppose we can talk tomorrow. Though I can't see what's so bad about a child. I used to have a couple." he chuckles lightly before pulling Chava to her feet, allowing her to lean on him, "Let's get you up to bed. I doubt you'd be focused enough to make it back to your home through apparation. Nor have I forgotten when you were 'kidnapped'."
Chava didn't fight going to bed, as she really was getting exhausted, and the whole day felt as if it had lasted months. She blinks, and leans on him. "A child is terrible. I hate children," she mutters, shaking her head. "And she's a brat. And I despise the man she came from, with all my heart." She grumbles, but tosses the thought from her mind, thankful to not have to think about it. She was glad to stay as well, not wanting to see Aveline upon getting home. She keeps a firm grip on him, ensuring that he would stay wit hher, before moving to head off to bed.
