[Wounded 3/5]Gifts and Apologies

|| The day had been long, and once more Damien was getting irritable. He never liked being in one place for too long, and this was far too long for him. He pulls himself out of bed, buckling against the wall for support. He slowly inched himself downstairs narrowly avoiding a nasty spill down the stairs. Down in the living room, he made his way to one of the smaller thrones, snapping off three of the bones. Waving his hand with a grimace he melted the three bones together until it was a suitable walking stick. "This should do," he muttered to himself before walking out of the house. He hobbled down the dark streets of Knocturn before returning to the scene of the fight from yesterday. The area seemed eerily empty, minus the remains of a leg. He lets out a sigh before casting a glance over the scene before finally falling on the pieces of the dagger on the ground. "There." He hobbled over to them before laying the bone staff on the ground, kneeling in front of them. His scarred hand swept the blade pieces out of the way, before picking up the hilt. He swore to himself before placing one of his feet onto the hilt and his hand on the gem that sat in the end. With what little strength he had, he pried the gem from the dagger, which knocked him back on his ass. With a quick nod, he pulled up the bone cane and used it to pick himself up. "One thing left to do now." Leaning against the cane, he made his way back towards Knockturn, though he took a turn at the Dark Alley he used to train at. Most importantly it was the place where he was tortured for over half a year. His eyes landed on the shop and he shuddered slightly, that old memory made worse by the most recent event. He made his way inside, and down into the basement. He looked around at the room, the bloodstains forcing him to remember that long hell, especially with what he was here to do. He made his way to the back right corner of the room, remember the day he'd managed to get his dagger back from Lucedio. That day he'd duplicated his dagger he'd tossed the duplicate towards the door, but when he returned to grab Lucedio's wand, he'd moved the dagger to a better hiding spot. He reached into his back pocket before grimacing remembering that Chava had taken his wand. "Fuck. This is going to make it worse." he was already tired from using wandless magic on the bone cane, but that was far simpler magic that was required here. He heaved a mighty sigh before holding his arm over the slightly cracked stone, forcing the stone to explode sending chunks of the floor everywhere. He fell down his chest at the sudden pain that occurred from the feat. He would have to be sure to not cast another spell today, as he feared the effort could kill him. With his good arm and his legs, he pulled himself towards the newly made whole, grabbing out the imperfect duplicate from within. He grinned slightly before very nearly passing out from exhaustion. He rolled over onto his back, staring at the ceiling. He couldn't move anymore if he tried, or he would pass out. He would just have to rest here... in his own old blood... for a while.

|| Having dealt with her pain in the ass of an adopted son, Chava had gathered what potions ingredients she could get from the house and packed them in a bag before trudging her way back to the Dagger Manor, having expected to find Damien asleep, like she had told him to do. Like he seemed to be doing when she left. She pushes her way into the Manor, already not in the best mood as it was, and set the bag of ingredients down, before making her way up to the room she knew Damien would be in. "Damien," she whispers just in case, pulling the door open. The first emotion to hit her was shock, and then immediately after denial, as he wasn't in bed like he was supposed to be. Starting to shake slightly, she searched the room, and even the rest of the house, for any sign of the man, but he was gone. Having figured out by now that he had run off somewhere, the anger and frustration started boiling in her, and she jammed her fist into the wall nearest her to release some of it. Not that it worked much. "DAMIEN THORNE!" she shrieks. "You motherfucker!..." She said this affectionately, of course, as much as she could when she was so angry. But to be fair, the anger only came from the fact that she cared so much for that damned man, and now he was off getting himself worse. She knew she had to go and find him, and thankfully the man wasn't becoming much more predictable to her. Her first thought was the old training room, down in the dark alley, and with that thought, she gripped her wand in her fist and bolted from the house. Immediately outside the confinements, she apparated, to be quick, spinning on the spot and finding herself outside the dark alley. She continued to run down the alley and pull the doors of the old shop open, casting light from her wand to better her sight. "Damien Thorne," she growled from the entrance, enough for him to hear if he was down in the basement. "If you're in here, so help me god, you'll start to miss battling Lucedio instead." In reality, all she would do is force him back home, leaving a slap across the head for when he was actually in a good enough position to take it. But still, empty threats were fun. Damien knew she meant no real harm, but would she be angry? Absolutely livid, and she sensed a body bind curse in Damien's very near future. She uses her wand to tear the doors apart to enter the basement, ducking down into it and shining the light of her wand around. When she saw him, lying on the floor with the rubble around him, she couldn't help but shriek, a sound similar to that she made when Lucedio had driven the blade piece into his neck. Her mind instantly began to overthink scenarios in which Lucedio had already gotten back and killed Damien before she could get to him, and she rushed forward, only to release a choking sob of relief when she notices him alive and even awake. The woman stares at him for a moment, before sitting down and curling her knees to her chest, wiping at her eyes. She tried to steady her shaking hands, wrapping her arms around her legs. "Damien, stop doing this to me," she mumbles, trying to mask the hurt in her voice with more anger.

|| Damien recognized the voice that called out from above, but he couldn't bring himself to call out, only smile slightly. At her reaction to seeing him, he raised a brow. He wasn't really in that bad of a state, was he? He reached up to place his hand on the back of her neck, gently pulling her close to him. He attempted to distract her by planting a kiss on her lips while slipping the gem he'd gotten into one of her pockets. He figured she probably noticed, or would notice soon, but he felt the need to apologize for what he said earlier, and what he'd planned was the best way he knew how. He pulled back, before moving himself so he was sitting against the wall. "I know you probably want to yell and scream at me, but please, just listen to what I have to say, first." He sighed lightly before casting his gaze up at the ceiling, "You were right. You risked your life and more battling Lucedio... for me." He turns his gaze down at her, sincerity being conveyed through his eyes, "I know I was being a bit selfish, but to me not being able to use my arm is like if someone snapped your wand." He gave a half smile, before shaking his head in determination, "So I'm going to stop moping around." he waved his hand at her pocket as if motioning for her to check it.

|| Damien's distraction had worked quite well on her, and she was rather taken by surprise to find him greeting her immediately with a kiss. Not that she was complaining, at all, just more so shocked. Nevertheless, she returned the kiss, and only just noticed him slipping something into her pocket, but immediately thought nothing of it, it being pushed to that back of her mind what with these other things to focus on. When he sat up, she sat directly across from him and moved to open her mouth to do exactly as he suspected, yell and scream at him, before she was cut off again. She crosses her legs and sits, listening to him as he spoke, still rather taken back by the entire thing. This was Damien in front of her, right? It had to have been, as there was no way in hell it was Lucedio. Still, she hadn't expected many heartfelt moments with the man from the moment they had gotten together. But it was wholly appreciated in that moment, a small smile tugging at her lips, though she looked down at the ground to hide it. "You're still not allowed to give up on yourself," she whispers in response, shaking her head gently. "I'm still fighting your battles until you get better, and even then I'm helping you." She knew how opposed he was and would be of her idea, but she was still going to press on it anyway. She wouldn't allow him to get hurt again. As it was she was giving him a break now, but the moment they got home she was making sure he would get right back in bed to rest. She pauses again, as he motions towards her pocket, and she remembered what she had clearly forgotten in the midst of his distraction. She quirks a brow at him, digging her hand into her pocket and pulling out the small gem, holding it up to look at it and spinning it in between her fingers. She hadn't even noticed the grin breaking out on her face.

|| Silence met Chava's words as Damien tilted his head to the side thinking upon them. He knew he would never change anything on the matter. "I won't give up anymore. That much you can be sure of." He reached out pulling his makeshift cane towards him, resting it across his lap. He didn't necessarily want to stay in this basement, but he would stay as long as needed. "I get that, but it's still too dangerous." he held up his hand to stop her from protesting, before continuing, "That's why I'm going to help. Every week I'll start on a new batch of Polyjuice. I have enough cauldrons in the manor to do so, though if you have more it'll be a help." he smirks lightly as if he was expecting to see the shock on the woman's features. "And when I'm not training, I'll help you to better imitate me." He looks at her sternly before saying, "I don't want any arguing on this. I'll be stuck in my house so much I'll want to be active." He took a glance at the gem twirling in her fingers before smiling slightly at her expression. He was trusting her with something very important to him. While some could argue that the dagger as a whole was what saved him, he knew that it was the various enchantments on the gem that saved him from the hell that he experienced in his third year. "I needed the set," he starts, holding up the duplicated dagger he'd spent so much energy to get. "While the original connection will have been severed, there's still a link between that gem and this dagger." he paused at this trying to think of how to explain... "Originally the dagger served to send messages to two other daggers. However with the original destroyed that link will be gone." He nods at the gem before saying, "But if you pool a bit of magic into the gem..." he paused slightly before grinning slightly "You'll have a direct, instantaneous line towards me." he gives a half a shrug before adding, "There were a couple of other features too, but I'm not so sure if they're still working or not. Either way, I'm trusting you with that."

Chava had instantly begun to protest his saying it was too dangerous before being cut off again, and she could tell he wasn't the only one getting predictable to the other. He was really starting to get a hang of her habits. One thing she rather admired. She heaves a sigh at his insistence in helping, biting down on her lower lip as she thinks this through. "Damien, I don't want you straining yourself in any way, and you do need to train..." But she trails off, not having the energy to press the matter now, and far too shocked by Damien's actions to really think about much else. She had been a little confused by the gem, but as he spoke about it, she glanced back up at him and felt her smile continue to widen, a faint blush tinting her cheeks- not that she would admit to that part. It was more the fact that he would trust her with something as important as this that really touched her heart, and despite wanting to yell at him only a few moments ago for running and scaring her again, she suddenly felt a rush of affection for the man in front of her. "You're trusting me with this?" She whispers, but she didn't even give him time to respond before she surged forward again, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling close to him. She presses a kiss to his temple and then the corner of his lips, squeezing him gently. "Thank you," she whispers near his ear before it vaguely occurred to her that perhaps in his state her display of affection could possibly hurt him, so she loosened her grip just slightly. "Sorry," she insists on return, looking down at him as if checking for damage.

|| A grin takes place on his lips as he realizes that he had accurately predicted Chava's protestation. "I'm a dab hand at potions, so really you'd be a fool to turn down my help there." He waves his hand before adding, "And teaching you to be able to act like me won't take much effort." He gave a half-hearted glare, as he taps his finger against the cane. "And most importantly, it'll make me feel as if I'm actually helping more than I am." With that he left it that, making it known he didn't want that conversation to continue. He would be doing what he'd said, whether she approved or not. He takes a deep breath at this, before tilting his head at her. So it seemed she realized how important it was to him, and how useful it was. He nodded to himself and to her, before starting, "I don-" he didn't get to finish what he was saying as she practically dove into him. Instinctively he wraps his arm around her before saying, "As I was saying. I don't trust anyone else with it." He pressed his forehead against hers, sighing slightly. Just like everything in his life, that gem held good and bad memories, but nostalgia was the thing that was affecting him. "You didn't harm me," much, "So you don't need to apologize." Sliding the cane out from its position, he broke away from Chava, before using the cane to pull himself up from the ground. "I think we should be heading back." Normally he would have offered a hand to help her up, but in his state, couldn't. "This is a known haunting spot of mine. If Lucedio were to come hunting for me, this is where he'd come first."

Chava immediately stood up when he did, and, worried still for him, slid back towards him and wrapped an arm around his torso, to help keep him steady and to help him walk the way back to the Manor. Before they left though, she tugs gently on his chin, to press her own kiss to his lips, lingering for just a moment before pulling away once more. "Of course. Thank you, love." She smiles, before continuing to walk with him, eager to get out of that area and to make sure Damien would not come back until everything was in order, to make sure Lucedio never got to him again. She knew she would do anything in her power to prevent it, and though Damien insisted on helping, she herself insisted on making the sacrifices, for doing a majority of the work until he was completely and fully healed. She would never say this to him, but if that meant her own death, than she would accept that, and so be it. Slipping the gem carefully away in her pocket, gripping him to her, they make their way back to the Manor, with that small smile never quite leaving Chava's face.
