[Beginning of The End 1/7] Spies and Confrontations

|| It had been a week since he'd tried to land himself a seat on the Wizengamot, which he'd managed to do later with a forged letter of recommendation, and the events leading up to Chava killing one of the ministry employees. The body of the woman had been found in an alley off in the muggle world, stripped of anything valuable. Her death was classified as a robbery gone wrong, and Damien showed the appropriate amount of sorrow when he 'learned' that she was dead. Beyond that day, Damien had been starting to get worried. Lucedio hadn't shown his face in a while, and he worried that he would show up soon. That's why today, he was changing into his blandest clothes so he could try and see if he could find out what Lucedio was up to, and even if he could spy on him from afar.

|| Chava felt a considerable amount better after the killing of that woman, and because of those events, was also a considerable amount more affectionate towards her husband. She couldn't quite help it, but at least it wasn't anything to complain about. She was, rather, very protective of Damien, and would do anything she could to keep him out of harms way. And yet, everything was noticeably quiet lately, for the two of them, which was something rare. Mostly quiet on the part of Lucedio, and even Aeron. Aeron was understandable to a degree, after his last encounter with Chava she could only hope he felt bad enough to stay away from the two. But as for Lucedio... Chava had no clue. That day she watches Damien with almost narrowed eyes, as something was certainly different. She'd usually assume he was going to the Ministry, but that would require much different attire than his current. She reaches out to tug curiously on his sleeve. "Where are you going?" she questions, brow arched. Wherever it was, if not the Ministry, she'd want to come with.

|| A sigh escapes Damien's lips as he feels Chava tugging at his sleeve. He had hoped to slip out without Chava knowing he was even gone, but it was clear that wouldn't be the case. He hesitates trying to think of a possible way to get out without Chava forcing her way into his plan. As far as he was concerned it was far too dangerous for Chava to go with him, as there was always the chance they'd get caught. Chava wasn't the patient type either, so that would make everything that much harder. He sighs again, before shaking his head slightly, "Just heading out to train. I'll be back before you know it."

|| Brown eyes narrow further. Damien was much better than her at telling a lie and putting on a story, she she had no clue whether going out to train was the truth, or something fabricated to keep her away from whatever he was doing. She'd want to come with nonetheless, even if it meant doing so secretly, playing along with it, and then following him. He had done it to her plenty of times after all, so what was to stop her from doing the same thing? He couldn't get upset with her when he had done the same. She always wanted to make sure he was safe. She folds her arms over her chest, sitting cross legged and staring up at him. "Can I can come with?" she smiles. "You know, you have said you'd train me in a few things after all. Like stealth and subtlety. Yes?" Again, she quirks a brow. His answer to this would determine whether she would have to sneak out after him.

|| A slight smile twitched onto his face, as he shook his head slightly, "While I commend your desire to learn," he started, kissing her cheek, before checking to make sure he had his dagger on hand. "I'd prefer to go this alone. I haven't done much as of late, so I want to make sure my skills are up to par." He sighed lightly, before moving over towards the door, not really checking if Chava was following him or not. "Like I said, I'll be back before you know it."

|| It didn't make sense to her, his excuse of wanting to train alone, while he still had plenty to train her in. And that's what set the alarm off in her head. She purses her lips, inching back from him. "Fine," she mutters simply in response, her voice low. The moment he exits the house she stands, darting over to grab a vial of polyjuice that they had around, as a just in case, pulling her hood up to prepare herself to follow after him. She gives him a moment to get far enough away, before she follows after, opening the vial to take the potion. She didn't take it first, wanting to make sure he didn't just apparate away or get too far before she could follow. But of course, there was also a reason she needed training in stealth and secrecy. She didn't think she could hold out following Damien for long before he discovered her. Still, she would walk.

|| He had a feeling Chava saw through his lie, and was probably pulling a move he used quite often. He wasn't entirely sure, but he had a feeling. Either way, as long as she hung back, and didn't recklessly throw herself in harm's way, then he didn't have a problem. But of course, Chava being Chava, there was no doubt in his mind that she'd do just that. So he couldn't help but hope that his feeling was wrong. He went to as many places as he could, trying to remember the places Lucedio used to go. He checked the shop, although he knew Lucedio wouldn't be there, as it was his own haunt, among with a large variety of other places. However it wasn't until he went to the place Lucedio had messed with his mind, did he get any closer to his goal. Lucedio wasn't there, but there were signs of recent activity everywhere. Damien smirked slightly, before climbing up a nearby building, for a vantage point where he could watch and not get caught. He didn't have to wait long before Lucedio appeared in front of the door. Damien grinned at the seemingly perfect timing, before frowning again as Lucedio melded into the shadows again. He swore to himself, but was determined to wait as long as it took. He was startled by a voice behind him, however. "It seems you're back to normal. We must remedy that."

|| No matter where Damien went, Chava still had no clue what he was doing. The only thing that was obvious to her now was that he had, in fact, lied when he said he was off to go training. So ducking into an alcove, she took the potion, where she transformed into her typical alias. She figured this was smartest, just in case she needed Damien to recognise her, and anyone else to not. But unless that was needed, Chava wouldn't make her presence known in the slightest. Tucking the vial away again, she watches him move up a building, already knowing that was something she could not do. She would have to watch from afar, wand and dagger in pocket just in case of danger. What was it he was looking for? Hiding behind a wall and looking up at where Damien hid, the answer came to her sooner than she thought. Instantly her wand flies out of her pocket, clenched tightly in her fist. One move from Lucedio, one thing to hurt Damien... and she wouldn't bother keeping a secret. She wouldn't care. As it was, she peeks her head out from behind the wall, her wand aiming directly for Lucedio, ready, for the  minute he touched him...

|| Shit. Damien instantly coiled back up, pulling himself off the ground. He would have to be prepared. His dagger snapped up from it's sheath, and he watched, waiting for Lucedio's move. Unfortunately he was in the same position that he was before. Up against the edge of a building, Lucedio in front of him, a long drop behind him. Although his mindset was certainly different from last time "Lucedio." he snarled out. Waiting for Lucedio to make the first move was a bad idea. Lucedio only needed to cast a spell, and he would be sent flying off of the edge, plummeting to his death. No, he would have to make the first move. He took a step forward, about to dash and attack, when Lucedio flicked his wand, and Damien was sent careening backward. It appeared Lucedio had come to the same conclusion he had. His foot snagged onto the ledge, before he toppled over the side. He spun himself quickly, reaching out to grab onto a ledge though it certainly put a large strain on his hands. Lucedio, confident in his strike, didn't even look over the edge to see if Damien was actually dead.

|| She considered it lucky now that she was here, unsure where to strike when the two started. A single wrong move and she could hit Damien as opposed to Lucedio. But before Damien even had a chance to do much at all, he was sent over the edge, which happened to elicit a far too loud scream from Chava's lips. She didn't hesitate then to cast a spell, and even though Damien caught onto one of the ledges, she sent a cushioning charm in his direction, a very strong one, which would allow him to fall without pain if he so needed to. She hoped, then, he would realize as much, as her next target was Lucedio, looking smug. She thought it was stupid of him to not even check for Damien's fall, but she was glad for that stupidity. She aims her wand for Lucedio and immediately casts crucio, not bothering to shoot for any less painful spells. Did she dare call out to Damien? She did. "Damien!" she cries, her wand still casting the spells towards Lucedio, in hopes of catching him. "Fall!"

|| Damien took a deep breath, as he gripped the side of the wall as if his life depended on it. And before Chava cast her spell, it did. He took but a moment, before scrambling up. Lucedio was distracted by Chava, casting defensive spells to keep himself safe. Damien moved forward about to strike, when he realized that his dagger had fallen to the ground below. The good thing was that they were on a building high up off the ground, and he had ample opportunities to knock Lucedio off the edge. The bad thing was that he wasn't quite sure how Lucedio's shadow ability worked, and that alone made it all the more worrying. Either way, he had to try. He rushed forward towards Lucedio, ramming his shoulder into him, though at that moment, Lucedio melded into the shadows, reappearing closer towards Chava, and Damien struggled to correct himself, before leaping off the building, taking advantage of his momentum and the building across from him. He hoped he could get over to Lucedio and Chava quickly, as Lucedio was already casting cutting curses and the like towards her.

|| Still having no clue what Damien was hoping to achieve from this, Chava found herself simply having to focus on Lucedio, who was fighting back. And with his magic stronger than hers, she had to give this all her attention. He moves closer to her, and she instantly takes another step backwards, trying to focus. She figured even with the polyjuice potion, which was bound to fade away at any minute, it was obvious to him who she was. Who else would have immediately come to defend Damien with as much fervour as she? "Stay the #@%k away from him," she  snarls, as a few cutting curses find their mark across her cheek and along her shoulder. She send the same spell back at him. "Every god damn time you get close to beating him, I fix it, so GIVE THE FUCK UP!" she screams, this time going so far as to send a killing curse in his direction, green light shooting from her wand. She figured Damien would be coming along soon.

| Damien could only watch as Chava sent various spells back at Lucedio, while he simply summoned something in front of him to block the spells. Lucedio started to smirk slightly, before turning his wand onto Damien, sending him flying off the back of the building out of sight. "I need only kill you first then." He flicked his wand again, sending the killing curse back at Chava. He knew Damien would survive that fall, it was just a distraction so Lucedio could try to kill Chava before Damien could do anything.

|| She screams again as Lucedio sends Damien flying, this time more out of rage and frustration. The potion having faded away, she sends more spells at Lucedio in rapid succession, casting a shield charm over herself to keep away his own curses. This was getting no where for her. She hadn't succeeded in making a hit while he had, and Damien was being kept at bay. "Normally that would be a lovely offer," she laughs, using her free hand to pull her dagger from her cloak. "But sorry, now the only way I'm dying, is if it means Damien is safe," she snarls, moving even closer to Lucedio as if she were going to try to stab him. She moves close and aims the blade towards his gut, making this out to be more a distraction than anything else so she could get a spell out instead.

|| Lucedio had reached the same conclusion that Chava had. This fight was going nowhere. At least for her. But while he could possibly kill her now, he had a plan, and had to keep to it. He quickly casts several knockback jinxes in quick succession to make sure she didn't get close, before smirking, "You may not want to die, but mark my words, you will die by my hand." With that, he disappeared into shadows, slipping off elsewhere. He would have to seek out Aeron as it was time to move forward with his plan. | Damien was glad that the ground wasn't far down at least not far enough to kill him. It was certainly enough to harm him, but it was nothing a potion couldn't fix. He groaned as he tried to pick himself up off the ground, the pain making it hard to do so. He had to get to the fight, before anything bad could happen.

|| Chava snarls at Lucedio as he leaves, his last words to her unfazing her. She wouldn't be surprised if she did die by Lucedio's hand, but she didn't much care about that. So long as Damien would be safe and take it as a means to fight back three times as hard against Lucedio. If Damien could kill Lucedio afterwards, her death would be worth it. At least, it would be to her. She holds her wand and blade out in front of her, in case Lucedio decided to return, eyes looking around for her husband. "Damien?" she calls out, running over to the side of the building where she had seen him fall. When she did see him, she puts a hand on his shoulder, as if asking him to sit back down. He was clearly in pain. "Damien, what were you thinking?"

|| Despite Chava's motioning, Damien chose to remain standing. He shook his head at her question before saying, "We can have this discussion when we get back home. I need a potion." With that he reached out, gripping her arm and apparating them directly back inside the manor. He moved walked off towards the storage room, grabbing a couple of his standard potions and downing them. He then turned towards Chava, and began to speak, "As to your question, I was thinking that Lucedio's been too quiet. That I needed to figure out what he was doing. Didn't quite work out as planned."

|| When they apparate back and Damien has his potions in hand, Chava immediately insists he sit again, putting a hand on his shoulder and gently pushing him down into a seat. She sits next to him, releasing a sigh as he speaks. "Good thing I'm a rebel and followed you then," she mumbles, reaching a hand out to brush his hair out of his face. She could only imagine what would have happened had he been alone and Lucedio's attention was entirely focused on him. "You're lucky I managed to steal your brother's attention for a bit," she shakes her head. She'd much rather have Lucedio focused on killing her rather than Damien. "I'm coming with you every time. You're not doing things alone," she insists.

|| A sigh escapes his lips, and finally accepts Chava's insistence in him sitting down, though instead of letting her sit next to him, he pulls her into his lap. He wasn't too damaged-- --and yet she was treating him as if he was as badly wounded as when Lucedio stabbed him in the neck. He was certainly getting harder and harder to deal with. "I would have preferred if you hadn't. You could have gotten hurt." He shakes his head at her. He hated how little she valued her own life, though at the same time he was a hypocrite because of that. He knew that nothing would change her mind, that she would either tag along with his permission or follow him. So he might as well keep her where she would be safest and let her tag along. "Fine, but before I'm even going to allow you to join me, I'm training you. You'll need to be able to keep up with me on more than one front."

|| She allows herself to be pulled into his lap, curling an arm around his neck and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I know you would have preferred otherwise," she sighs, brushing her thumb across his cheek. "But how do you think I would feel if you were more hurt than this? How do you think I'll feel if you end up dead?" Yes, she was being a hypocrite, but if this was how to get through to him, so be it. She would be a hypocrite all day long. "I'm here to help you too, dear. To love you, and to help you." She nudges him gently, thankful for his acceptance of her help. What she didn't say, was that she would be willing to face pain inches from death if it would keep him from a scratch. So long as he was perfectly safe. "Like I said this morning, I'll still be happy to train," she smiles faintly at him. "Don't worry about me so much. I've managed so far."

| Damien sighed lightly, before turning his gaze away from her. "Think on that question, except in the reverse. If you were to die..." he stopped himself from going any further, preferring not to think of it. He much preferred to think of himself dead and her alive, rather than the other way around. As far as he was concerned, most of his life was wasted because he had to fend for himself. "I know that, I just..." He shook his head slightly, before choosing to focus on her comment on training. "Good, I'll expect you to be up bright and early from now on." He smirked slightly, before whispering in her ear. "A fair warning, I'm something of a harsh teacher." He chuckled lightly before planting a kiss on her lips. "But you can't back out of it."

|| As much as she wanted to say more on the matter, she knew no matter what she said she wouldn't get through to Damien. She knew that even if her death was the only way to beat Lucedio he wouldn't allow for it, while she would want to. No, this was a conversation that would get them no where. Neither wanted the other dead, yet both were okay with themselves dying. There was no winning with such a conversation. Yet, Chava had to add one thing. "Damien," she murmurs, "If you die, you know I won't be alive much longer after. Especially with Lucedio around." She sighs, and might have continued, but much preferred the topic of her training. She quirks a brow. "Bright and early?" she splutters. "Good luck getting me out of bed early." When he whispers in her ear, she smirks at his words, her fingers gripping at his shirt collar. "Maybe I'll enjoy a /harsh/ teacher," she laughs, returning his kiss happily. "You do know I'm ever the rebel though."
