[Rejoining 2/3]Untold Creatures
Part of this RP has been lost, however we have managed to save a good chunk of it.
-- And she had certainly blocked out the night she left it on Damien's nightstand before leaving him. It wasn't a kind memory to her, probably even worse for Damien. But he had /lost/ it? How could he have lost something like that, especially after he had previously told her how important it was to keep it out of the wrong hands? It could be anywhere by now. She straightens her back, moving back from him with a frown. "You lost the gem?" she questions. Well, she had to know how to figure out how to find it, right? "How? What happened?" It was a subject usually avoided, the night she left, but now Chava was curious. She had never been told what it was like for Damien when he woke up and she was gone.
|| Of course she asked. Of course she fucking asked. It was something he didn't quite want to think about, not because Chava left, but also because in a fit of devastation, he rid himself of something quite important. There were only three of it's kind, too. He sighed, exasperated, before finally answering, "I may have... threw it out the window." he paused slightly for a moment before pressing on, "When I found it after you'd left." he shifted in his seat, thinking he'd rather be out searching for the gem, rather than continue this conversation. He pulled himself out of his throne, tightening his robe around him, "I think I'm going to search for it now." he looked towards the door once more, though he hesitated, expecting that she'd want to help him search.
|| Normally, Chava would have pressed the matter until she got more answers. But now, she didn't want to upset Damien. Since she had returned she had wanted to make things as easy going as possible for Damien, to make him happy, relaxed. So she stopped questioning him, even though the thought of him throwing the gem out the window made her want to know more. It pained her, knowing he had been pained. When he stands, she notices his hesitation, and a small smile tugs at her lips. "I'll come with you and help," she responds simply, before getting up herself and following along after him. She'd missed him, after all.
|| Damien thought he knew where the gem landed. In reality, he had no clue, which became obvious the more and more they looked. While it had been around the afternoon when he threw the gem out the window, he lived in an area that was almost perpetually dark and shadowy. Most of the time, this served him well, but in a situation like this, he almost wanted to curse Knockturn Alley. But, despite the hour they'd spent outside searching, even they had to have good luck at some point, especially when of late it seemed that all they had was bad luck. And as it turned out, he was completely and utterly /wrong/. He'd spotted the gem alright, and was motioning towards Chava to join him where he was, when he noticed the part that turned this good thing sour. While the gem was lying in the middle of the road, they would find it hard pressed to get it. He looked up slightly, and there, resting near the gem, was the foot to quite possibly the strangest creature he'd ever seen. Damien didn't have enough time to say or do anything, as without warning the bulbous, oblong creature barreled straight towards him, it's large mouth open menacingly.
|| Looking for the gem wasn't particularly interesting, and Chava had no clue how far Damien would have thrown it, or if it could have been stolen by now. Especially looking back on the fact that Lucedio had been around here even just a few days ago. Could he have taken it? Chava was just about to bring up this point with a sigh, when Damien waves her over. Figuring he had found the gem, or even found anything at all, she starts to make her way over to him, before she notices the problem at hand, making its way to lunge at Damien. How could she even describe properly what she saw and still do it justice? It was a strange looking creature, strange looking enough to frankly terrify Chava, but that didn't stop her from making a move as soon as it bounded for Damien. Without even thinking logically about what she was about to do, without even thinking to pull out her wand, Chava sprints the rest of the distance to Damien, before leaping at the last second in front of him, before the creature could reach Damien. She had no clue what it would do, as she opens her arms and grabs hold of it, but she didn't quite care, as long as she could successfully get it away from Damien.
|| As soon as Chava had gotten in front of Damien, the creature stopped, for whatever reason. It snapped it's jaw before letting out what Damien could only describe as an underwater growl. It's eyes stayed focused on him, and tried to circle around them to get at Damien. Despite the fact that the creature didn't seem to care about Chava, he moved her behind him, trying to protect her, while at the same time, casting a shielding charm. He'd hoped it would last enough, but with his skill, or lack thereof, he had a feeling it wouldn't last too long. He reached his hand grabbing onto her own, while trying to inch them backwards. Perhaps if they could get the gem, and then make a break from it. Seeing it's chance, the creature rushed forward slamming it's head against the shield, it's teeth snapping out at the shield with very little success, before backing up, preparing for another charge.
|| Even though Damien tried as he could to keep Chava behind him, she was having none of that. Her first move had left the strange creature not even touching her, solely focused on Damien. But why? What had Damien done that Chava hadn't? So, taking that small risk, Chava switches the roles and moves Damien behind her instead, casting her own, stronger, shield charm to keep Damien's energy. "Hey, it's okay," she whispers to him. "I don't think it'll hurt me." And so far, it wasn't. Still, how could they get around this? The gem was still in the middle of the street, far too out in the open for Chava's liking. She runs through ideas in her head, before renewing the shield charm. "It doesn't like you. So you stay here, under the shield charm. I'll keep it up for you, and you can too. I can get the gem. Okay?" she questions, but she knew she was going to do it even if he disagreed.
| Damien shook his head at her, grabbing onto her arm. "Absolutely not. What if it decides to attack you because you're an available target?" Besides, he'd already come up with an idea himself. "Besides, I'm faster than you." With his experience and agility, he knew this fact, whether or not he had seen Chava run. Besides, if need be, he could climb a building. It wouldn't be the first time he'd done so. Without a warning, he darted out of the shield, the creature hot on his heels. He'd seriously underestimated the speed of the creature. To keep up his momentum, instead of stopping to pick it up, he ducks down, sliding on his left leg, using his left hand to scoop up the gem. When he started slowing down, he placed his right foot on the ground, before using that momentum, to throw himself on his feet, just before the creature barreled into him, sending him toppling to the ground. He tensed up, his hand reaching to his dagger, waiting for the creature to attack, though it never came. Instead it placed it's front feet on his chest, letting loose a warbled growl threateningly. It seemed as if it wanted something from him, but in the 'if I don't get it I'll kill you' kind of way.
|| Releasing a frustrated scream, Chava was one hundred percent sure it would have worked out better for the both of them if Chava had simply gone to get the gem herself. As it was, the moment Damien started running, Chava took down the shield, and rushes after him. Bit of course, the creature got there first. "DAMIEN, I SWEAR TO GOD!" she yells, making her way to his side, only to realize he wasn't being attacked either. The creature didn't ignore Damien, like it had Chava, but still wasn't attacking. Nonetheless, she didn't like the growl coming from it, looking like it was threatening Damien. What did it want? The gem? Chava gives almost no moments hesitation before she flips her wand out from her pocket, aiming it right at the creature, as far away from Damien as she could get, so it wouldn't hit him instead. She casts a spell to aim to throw the creature backwards, holding a hand out to Damien. "Listen to me, please," she hisses.
| Damien grins sheepishly at Chava from beneath the creature as she shouts at him. "Perhaps that wasn't a good idea after all." He calls out, before refocusing at the creature, more specifically, its very sharp teeth. As Chava's spell hits the creature it gets sent flying across the street, and Damien scrabbles forward as the creature growls. "You might have angered it!" This was a better time than any. He only hoped that aspect of the gem still worked. He knew the one time use aspect worked, but this, he wasn't even sure. He never used it before he'd never used it before either, since it didn't help ease the drain magic had on his body. It actuality, it made it worse. He gripped the gem in his hands, aiming his wand at it, before casting the shielding charm again. He breathed a sight of relief as a stronger than earlier shield surrounded him, though swore to himself as the shield faded away again. "That's not going to work." he mutters to himself, eyeing the creature who's focus was directly on him, despite Chava's interference.
|| Frankly, it was hard to be even a little upset with Damien when he smiles at her, but Chava managed to do so all the same. He was making risky moves, especially considering the creature was really only after him. "I'd rather it be angry at me," she mutters honestly, as Damien set to work using the gem. She wasn't entirely sure what his plan was, but she'd leave him to it all the same, as long as she could keep the creature away from him. And so, standing in front of Damien once more, she inches towards the creature with her palm out, as if she were trying to calm it. She places her own shield charm over Damien. "Be careful with your magic," she calls out to him, still moving closer to the creature. The second it moved, she casts the same spell out at it, to try and keep it away. "What does it want...?"
|| "Well, it seems to be fixated on me, whatever it wants." That was a very good question. It didn't seem to want to kill him, at least not yet. It seemed to want something first. He tried to list through magical creatures he knew of, but kept turning up empty. It seemed as if this was a new discovery of it self. Damien would have been pretty interested... if it wasn't attacking him. But as he thought more and more on creatures something popped into his head. "Some animals are color blind." he called out, watching Chava and the creature carefully. It didn't seem to react to the extended hand, though it kept trying to get around her. They were certainly dealing with an intelligent creature, but how intelligent?
|| The more the creature kept trying to get around her to Damien, the more Chava blocked it off, using magic every time it was necessary. "I know it's fixated on you, why do you think I told you I'd get the gem?" She couldn't help a little attitude, to be frank, but even just fighting side by side like this with Damien made her feel more and more like herself again. That was the one good thing she could think of in this situation. "What does it matter if it's colour blind?" she asks, trying to think of any possible ways they could use that. "What, if it hates you, think we could stick it to Lucedio and kill him off instead?" she snorts, not really meaning the comment, not really thinking about it all that much.
|| "Wait, wait! Lucedio!" Damien called out. He ignored her quip about his rushing off for the gem in favor of this new revelation. If the creature was color blind, and it was attacking solely him, then perhaps it mistook him for Lucedio. Although in all honestly, he wasn't sure how they could use that factoid. He doubted it was intelligent enough to understand English so it wasn't as if they could say. 'Hi, there. I'm not Lucedio. I'm just his twin who looks exactly like him. Oh, and by the way, we have different colored hair.' That was just ridiculous even thinking it. "I suspect it thinks I'm Lucedio. Although If we could get it to work, that plan would be a pretty good too."
|| Once Damien brought that up, it seemed likely, but there still wasn't anything they could do about it, until the creature realized he was not, in fact, Lucedio. So how they got away from the creature now was the real question. "Okay, but how do we get out of this?" she groans, casting another spell out at the creature. Really, she just wanted to take the gem and run back inside, where it was safer for the both of them, and they could relax. She was getting tired of doing the same thing, just trying to keep it away from Damien.
|| Damien reached back, pressing his hand against a building, his fingers nimbly checking for any places he could grip onto, while keeping it's focus on the creature. He could climb up and away, but where would that leave Chava. With an angry creature he'd never even heard of. Who knew if it was even limited by the ground. He lowers his hand, abandoning that plan, though his eyes darted this way and that, looking for some sort of escape route. As it turned out, he didn't have to worry, as the creature tilted it's head, well body, they seemed to be one and the same before charging off and around the corner. He had no idea what had happened, or if would even get back, but he certainly wasn't taking any chances. He gripped Chava's hand before darting off towards the manor, never slowing down, until he reached the manor grounds, and only resting when they were inside. "That was... strange."
|| Before she could even figure out a reasonable plan, the creature had darted off without another move, leaving Chava more confused than she had been the entire time. Where had that thing even come from, the depths of hell? The next thing she knew Damien had grabbed her hand, and with a start she runs with him, though as she was slower, she was practically being pulled. They re-enter the Manor, and she rubs her forehead, trying to catch her breath. "More than strange," she admits, a little winded. "And pretty damn concerning." She shakes her head, leaning back on Damien. She didn't know what else to say about what they had witnessed, what even could she say or do? It was too strange to dwell on for long. "But you have the gem, right?" she quirks a brow, a little curious as to why he needed it now as opposed to earlier. Did he have some other plan up his sleeve she didn't know about? "What to do with it now?" she asks.
|| "For now, nothing." He started, hoping they'd never have to use the gem, but he had to be sure. They might need that in the future, and if they didn't have it, because he threw it out a window. "I'll hold on to it for now, but I'll still want you to hold onto it later. I just want to make it a bit... harder to lose." He had a bit of a plan, but that would have to be enacted later, when Chava wasn't around. He slipped the gem into his pocket before planting a kiss on Chava's lips. "Thank you. You probably saved my hide there. I may have been a bit overzealous in my actions." he grins at her slightly, before maneuvering to his throne. He figured that if there was a better time to relax, now was it.
|| If Chava was completely honest, she was a little scared Damien would never have wanted to give her the gem back. She was worried he could no longer trust her with it, after she had given it up the first time. She was glad he would return it eventually, but she still couldn't help but stiffen up slightly when he says he'd hold onto it. She frowns just slightly, trying not to make it known. But of course, she gives in when he kisses her, and she returns the gesture, relaxing and smiling properly once more. "Of course," she grins in response. "I can typically be like that, so I understand," she snickers. "But do let me take risks for you sometimes." And with that, she settles comfortably on his lap, resting her head on his shoulder.
